Teacher

Position Title: Elementary & Secondary Education Teachers (A team of least 2 is encouraged, but not required.)

Reports to: Associate Principal of the Living Tree Discovery Center School
Works closely with: Campus Captain


Position summary: The Living Tree Discovery Center School is located on India’s Campus.  Previously, the campus children attended two different private schools.  Even before COVID many of these children were behind or had significant gaps in their education.  In 2021 the children will go to school full time on campus with teachers who will give them more individualized support.  Responsibilities include creating and facilitating successful, engaging lessons that allow students to improve their academic and social-emotional skills.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Teach multiple grade levels
  • Follow designated curriculum
  • Implement additional material to support curriculum objectives
  • Regularly record grades and review individual student’s progress
  • Maintain classroom management using Trauma informed principles
  • Evaluate and review lesson plans to see if they are having the desired outcomes per grade level and per student
  • Submit weekly lesson plans
  • Create cumulative reports for each student
  • Adjust style of teaching based on the needs and learning style of the student
  • Follow the same calendar as the students, June-April
  • Participate in children’s 5 point child development plan review to set educational goals (4 times a year)
  • Help with Child Sponsor letters 4 times a year
  • Participate in a weekly meeting with Campus Captain and the other teachers to discuss individual needs of the students, to share stories of impact, to discuss challenges, and general observations
  • Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary or secondary education

  • Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications
