Position summary: The Child Education Specialist develops and leads the individualized education strategy for youth (K-6th grade) connected to Back2Back Cincinnati experiencing educational disparities.
Primary responsibilities:
- Maintains a caseload of children focused on their educational development.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and family to help set goals for each child as it pertains to education.
- Maintains relationships with children’ educators and staff on caseload.
- Assists children and families in navigating educational barriers and opportunities.
- Develops strategy to advocate within the school system for children’s individualized needs and felt safety.
- Develops and oversees a team of volunteers to assist with child educational disparities.
- Monitors educational goals and progress of children receiving educational assistance with Back2Back Cincinnati.
- Develops process for assessment, ongoing evaluation, and celebration for children. receiving educational assistance.
- Maintains documentation in the Back2Back Care Database.
- Creates strategy to bridge educational development to home.
- Develops educational resource bank of tutoring and educational resources for children in Cincinnati.
- Oversees educational aspects of neighborhood based camps for children.
- Utilize 5% of hours in a community of belonging.
- Assist as needed with organizational special events.
- Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/ License/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education.
Experience
- Experience working within the Cincinnati Public School system or a similar system.

- Utilize Back2Back Trauma Competent Care principles.
- Understands Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Access to transportation to enable regular in-home visits.
- Teachable and open to learning.
