Position summary: The Justice Initiatives Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading initiatives that promote equity, justice, and community empowerment through education and advocacy with a holistic, trauma-informed approach. This role focuses on supporting youth and families navigating the juvenile court system, fostering restorative justice practices, and ensuring access to resources in neighborhoods and schools. This role will collaborate with community partners, schools and the justice system to create pathways for sustainable change while upholding the belief that every belongs in spaces of justice. This role is rooted in the belief that everyone- regardless of background or circumstance- belongs in spaces of justice.
Primary responsibilities:
- Champion initiatives that address systemic barriers and promote fair access to opportunities in education, the legal system, and the community.
- Support youth and families in understanding and navigating the juvenile court system, ensuring access to educational resources and advocacy.
- Build relationships with local leaders, organizations, and families to strengthen support networks and foster a sense of belonging.
- Implement and support restorative justice practices within schools and neighborhoods to address harm, reduce, recidivism, and promote healing.
- Connect families to legal aid, mental health services and other critical resources that support stability and growth.
- Design initiatives that create lasting change while measuring effectiveness through data collection and community feedback.
- Assist as needed with organizational special events.
- Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or Political Science, preferred
- Experience in advocacy, juvenile justice system, education
Required skills and abilities:
- Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Back2Back’s mission and vision.

- Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
- Passion for justice, equity, and community empowerment.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including schools, courts, and community organizations.

- Proficiency in Google workspace for documentation and collaboration.
- Must be able to walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to travel and drive locally.
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
- Must meet vision requirements for close work.
