Compassion for the World Around Them

In August, Hope Program students participated in activities designed to strengthen their care and awareness towards nature and animals.

Rapaz Rescue Foundation, dedicated to rescuing wild birds at risk and located in Veracruz, led a video conference with the students. They introduced them to a rescued eagle, explaining the  biology of the birds, as well as the care needed to keep them safe and alive.

Another connection was made with another foundation known for rescuing sea turtles. The students drew pictures of sea turtles and sent them to the organization, dreaming of the possibility of taking part in releasing the sea turtles back into the ocean.

Finally, they connected with a local organization who trained them on the care of domestic animals. All three trainings taught the value of other living things, and grew their empathy and compassion for the world around them.
