Ringing in Celebration

It was another sunny day on the Monterrey Campus. Christian walked slowly toward the wooden structure with butterflies in his stomach. The bell hung, waiting to be rung by the next student to accomplish a goal or welcome Jesus into their life. It was finally Christian’s turn to make it sing out for all to hear. As he approached the bell, Christian’s father, other important adults in his life, and Aracely, Hope Program Director stood by to celebrate alongside him. He reached toward the rope, a small smile across his face. This was it. The beginning of the next chapter.

Christian, a former Hope Program Student, recently graduated college with a degree in Criminology. “When Christian was younger, and even leading up to his time in the Hope Program, he was unsure if he’d succeed,” shared Aracely.

Joining the program helped Christian realize his future was worth the fight. Over time, he gained vision for his future. As he graduated college, and walked forward to ring the bell, he celebrates not just the completion of his studies, but also a full-time job offer.

“Congratulations, Christian!” Aracely said. Christian returned her words with a smile before commenting, “Thank you for believing in me.”

Christian rang the bell loudly as his Hope Parents, Back2Back staff members, and his father looked on with pride. The echo of the bell slowed down, and Christian’s father shook each hand of staff standing nearby, thanking them for the investment they willingly made everyday for his son.

Their dedication and your generosity in every teen in the Hope Program are what make stories like Christian’s not just a possibility, but a reality. Thank you for your advocacy in offering care for today and hope for each tomorrow.

She feels most herself in the heat of India and prefers her mugs big, her books long, and her words intentional.
