Keeping God Near

“Auntie! Auntie! I want to share something with you, Auntie!” Sunday runs towards Abigail Ali, Back2Back Care Giver. “Auntie, today at school I learned about Jesus walking on water!”

As eight-year old Sunday sits down with Abigail, he shares the story he learned at school – recalling details and sharing it precisely. Abigail smiles softly to herself as she listens to the young boy excitedly share about his Savior.

“Each morning, we gather the children and do devotionals together before they leave for school,” explains Abigail. “Currently, we are doing a study on the closeness of God’s Word in our lives.”

The children and their three caregivers are spending time in Deuteronomy 30: 11-20. But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it (v14) is helping the children to understand they can continually have God’s word very close to them – always capable of inviting Jesus into their days.

Sunday excitedly concludes his story of Jesus walking on water and Abigail wipes a tear from her eye as she shares in his excitement. Sunday, along with the other children at Destiny Children’s Home, is experiencing an active God in his life, ready and willing to be near him at all times.
