Social Worker – Cancun

Position Description: Social Worker

Reports To: Cancun Site Director & Sr. Social Worker

Position Summary: Connect families, children and Back2Back staff with resources to help them understand ways they can grow and develop spiritually, physically, educationally, emotionally and socially

Primary Job Responsibilities
o Work with Ministry Partners
o Partner with captains to get to know and assist children and families
o Visit each ministry partner 1 time every 2 weeks
o Create life stories for children and families
o Oversee behavioral contracts with families and children
o Help set goals with children and families annually
o In partnership with the captains and monitor goal completion
o Submit progress reports
o Aid with emergencies and problem solving with children and families
o Attend staff meetings and training workshops
o Help to plan monthly parenting trainings with ministry partners
o Have a clear understanding of legal issues – judicial, DIF, etc.
o Create and teach classes on emotions/skills/values for children and adults
o Maintain binders and online records of all children and families
o Connect children and families with resources, services, and opportunities

Steward all ministry resources
o Keep track of Back2Back supplies
o Follow all financial procedures
o Care for the physical facilities and equipment at the Community Center.

Required Abilities
• Clear understanding of Back2Back Vision and Mission
• Bi-lingual (Spanish & English)
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Mature Christian
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Active listener
• Critical thinking & problem solving skills
• A heart for working with marginalized children & families
• Experience working with children or families
• Letters of recommendation from a pastor or other Christian associate, and one professional recommendation
• Ability to administrate financial resources
• Work with family and friends to create ministry partner team, who financially support role

• Mature Christian
• Field experience
• University degree in Social Work or Psychology
• Proficiency in MS Office
