Position summary: The Youth Education Specialist develops and leads the individualized education strategy for youth (7th-12th grade) connected to Back2Back Cincinnati experiencing educational disparities.
Primary responsibilities:
- Maintains a caseload of youth focused on their educational development.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team and family to help set goals for each youth as it pertains to education.
- Maintains relationships with youth’ educators and staff on caseload.
- Assists youth and families in navigating educational barriers and opportunities.
- Develops strategy to advocate within the school system for youth’ individualized needs and felt safety.
- Develops and oversees a team of volunteers to assist with youth educational disparities.
- Monitors educational goals and progress of youth receiving educational assistance with Back2Back Cincinnati.
- Develops process for assessment, ongoing evaluation, and celebration for youth receiving educational assistance.
- Maintain documentation in the Back2Back Care Database.
- Creates strategy to bridge educational development to home.
- Develops educational resource bank of tutoring and educational resources for youth in Cincinnati.
- Oversees educational aspects of neighborhood based camps for youth.
- Assist as needed with organizational special events.
- Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education.
- Experience working within the Cincinnati Public School system or a similar system.
Required skills and abilities:
