Neighborhood Initiatives Coordinator

The Neighborhood Initiative Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading community-based programs that foster connection, engagement, and sustainability in local neighborhoods with a holistic and trauma-informed approach. This role organized neighborhood play activities and volunteer initiatives in community spaces to create felt safety and enriching environment for children, youth, and families. This role is rooted in the belief that strong, connected communities create lasting change and that every child and family should have access to safe and engaging spaces to grow and thrive.

Position summary:  The Neighborhood Initiative Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading community-based programs that foster connection, engagement, and sustainability in local neighborhoods with a holistic and trauma-informed approach. This role organized neighborhood play activities and volunteer initiatives in community spaces to create felt safety and enriching environment for children, youth, and families. This role is rooted in  the belief that strong, connected communities create lasting change and that every child and family should have access to safe and engaging spaces to grow and thrive.

Primary responsibilities:

    • Organize and facilitate structured and unstructured play experiences that promote children and youth’s social connection, learning and well-being. 
    • Plan and implement seasonal local city based camps that provide recreational, educational, and leadership opportunities for youth in cincinnati. 
    • Develop and coordinate initiatives encouraging local engagement in community spaces, parks, and schools. 
    • Ensure access to materials, spaces, and support systems necessary for successful program implementation. 
    • Design initiatives that foster longer-term community impact while tracking participation and program outcomes. 
    • Champion equity and inclusion, ensuring all programs are accessible and welcoming to diverse community members. 
    • Assist as needed with organizational special events.
    • Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position.

    Required education and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferred,or experience in program coordination, education, recreation or a related field. 

    Required skills and abilities:

    • Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Back2Back’s mission and vision.
    • Adhere to and share the Back2Back Statement of Faith, Cultural Values, and Standards of a Staff Member.
    • Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
    • Passion for community building, youth development, and volunteer engagement. 
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Strong leadership skills. 
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. 
    • Experience in planning and executing community events and activities. 
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace for documentation and collaborations.
