Position summary: The Community Support Coordinator develops and facilitates programs that promote student well-being, social-emotional learning, academic progress, and community engagement in education within their assigned community partner. The Coordinator will oversee Connection Group implementation in school and after school program settings. They will also provide educational support for students identified by school staff as experiencing an educational disparity. The Coordinator will collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community leaders to implement interventions that promote student well being and bridge the education gap to reduce barriers for access to equitable education.

Education and Youth Development 

  • Advocate for trauma-informed education practices and equitable access to academic opportunities.
  • Provide in-classroom support for school staff including academic work and social emotional learning opportunities for students.
  • Provide out-of-class support for students including skills practice and co-regulation efforts with students. 
  • Provide staff and student support during special events, new experiences, or field trips. 
  • Support school staff retention through trauma-informed care training, practical support, acknowledgment and celebration.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate learning loss over academic calendar disruption. Including, but not limited to, summer reading programs and providing academic support to partnering summer programs for students from the district.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with various tasks including in and out of classroom academic support for students. 
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to shared storytelling across initiatives. 
  • Implement and grow connection groups in schools to foster social-emotional learning, resilience, and belonging. 
  • Train and equip Connection Group facilitators to lead Connection Groups.  
  • Ensure materials, curriculum, and support exist to successfully facilitate Connection Groups in school and community based settings. 
  • Collaborate with educators and administrators to integrate trauma-informed and equity-focused practices. 
  • Participate in organization-wide events and collaborate across departments to support holistic program success.

Education/ License/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or related field preferred. 


Experience

  • Experience in education, program coordination, community engagement, advocacy, or youth development. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bilingual English/Spanish desired. 
  • Passion for student development, education equity, and community engagement.
  • Hospitality and rapport building. 
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices.
  • Small group facilitation with students.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, detail oriented, and time-management skills with the proven ability to prioritize deadlines, juggle competing demands, and adapt quickly in dynamic environments. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication,and boundary setting skills, with the ability to build trust and work collaboratively across teams.  Valid driver’s license. 
  • Commitment to serving students, staff, colleagues, and community partners on behalf of Jesus. 
  • Uphold confidentiality. 


Technology

  • Basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

This role is based in the Middletown, Ohio, office and involves direct interaction with program participants, families, and youth ranging from early childhood through teenagers. The position operates within both standard office settings and various community environments, requiring regular collaboration with local staff, leadership, and community partners. The role involves typical office tasks like computer use alongside more active demands, such as standing for extended periods, navigating community spaces, and occasionally lifting or moving program and event supplies up to 30 pounds.
