The Child Care Manager leads Back2Back Cincinnati’s holistic, trauma competent, relational approach for children (K-6th grade), including the oversight of Back2Back Cincinnati’s Child Care Team.

Position summary: The Child Care Manager leads Back2Back Cincinnati’s holistic, trauma competent, relational approach for children (K-6th grade), including the oversight of Back2Back Cincinnati’s Child Care Team.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintains a caseload of children and families, as needed.
  • Leads the intake strategy for children as a participant on the Intake Team.
  • Walks children and families through the intake process and implements an assessment system to address current opportunities and barriers in the home and determine the needs for children.
  • Oversees the method of creation and maintenance of holistic goals including intervention strategies for children.
  • Advocates on behalf of and with children and families to create interdependence in community.
  • Oversee Connection Cohort strategy.
  • Develops and maintains opportunities for children to develop dependency on Jesus, interdependence in community, and economic sustainability.
  • Oversees the evaluation and implementation of CSI and other assessment tools for children.
  • Utilize Social Work modalities to help children and families find their voice, build goals, mobilize their strengths, and overcome obstacles to their sustainability.
  • Lead children interdisciplinary efforts and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care for children and families.
  • Lead in crisis management for children, assess safety concerns, and problem solve as needed.
  • Lead collaboration efforts with local agencies involved with children and lead efforts to make additional referrals.
  • Oversee Child Care Team’s documentation in the Back2Back Care Database.
  • Participate as a member of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Utilize 5% of hours in a community of belonging. 
  • Assist as needed with organizational special events.
  • Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position. 
Supervisory Requirements
  • Supervises and supports Child Care Coordination strategy
  • Supervises and supports the Child Education Specialist, as they oversee the education strategy for children
  • Hold weekly 1:1 meetings to build trust and provide regular oversight.
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize department objectives and workloads
  • Develop specific goals, set performance standards, and communicate expectations to employees.
  • Engage and motivate employees, address conflict, and monitor performance.
  • Develop and build functioning teams working toward the same goals.
  • Provide active guidance and development to employees by identifying developmental needs, coaching, and assisting employees in advancing their skills. Utilize the annual and quarterly Ministry and Development Plan process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ License/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work (licensure preferred) [Certifications & CEU’s may also qualify]

Experience

  • Training in Trauma Competent Care
  • 2+ years of experience working with children and families

  • Access to reliable transportation for providing community-based care
  • Understanding and practice with theories of trauma and attachment
  • Knowledge of resources available to support youth and families in Cincinnati
  • Cultural knowledge and sensitivity

Technology

  • Basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
