Back2Back staff work long hours, step into difficult story lines, and never stop fighting on behalf of the vulnerable populations they serve globally. Each year, the Back2Back Care Team hosts staff retreats for the different staff teams, and this year in the D.R. it was an extra special time.

“We decided to hold an island of Hispaniola retreat,” shared Hope Garcia, Back2Back staff. “We invited all the Haiti leaders, and three were able to come.”

The D.R. staff and three Haiti staff members spent four days together in the D.R. with three members from the Care team in the corporate office. They stayed near the beach and together shared life, teachings, and prayer. The Haiti staff hasn’t been able to come and go easily with the upheaval in their country, and this time away for them was intentional and life-giving. Following the four day retreat, Haiti staff returned safely to their families and then the border stopped allowing travel between Haiti and the D.R.

“God’s mercy was so evident during our time together and in staff getting back into Haiti safely,” shared Hope.

Retreats are a key way staff reset and refocus on their roles and why they do what they do – it is a time to focus on God and ask Him where He will lead teams next. Please join Back2Back in prayer for protection over all staff teams, and that they never lose sight of just how powerful their work is.
