Laughter, music, and the vibrant colors of the Nigerian flag filled the air as staff and children celebrated Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day. What looked like a simple celebration was, in reality, something far deeper – an intentional moment of connection planned by Back2Back’s Psychosocial Department to strengthen pride, belonging, and healing.
The day brimmed with experiences designed for joy and togetherness: a release of doves and balloons symbolizing peace and freedom, face painting with national colors, horseback riding to engage both body and mind, and activities that invited staff and youth to relax, play, and simply be present with one another.
These moments matter. Children and teens from hard places don’t just need meals, education, and medical care – they need celebration, joy, and safe spaces to be young. When safe adults create environments where play and connection thrive, the hardest parts of a child’s story lose their power. This is holistic care in action – emotional, social, physical, and spiritual support working together to pave new paths forward.
Days like this are possible because of faithful partners who refuse to step away from hard stories. Your generosity provides warm homes, nutritious meals, trauma-informed staff, access to schooling, and yes, moments of joy, reminding every child they are seen, known, & loved.
Thank you for giving more than resources. Thank you for giving toward a hope that won’t stand still.
