Perseverance & Integrity: An Empowered Student

At Nigeria’s trauma-informed school, academics, life skills, and integrity are all equally important lessons staff want every student to obtain. Teachers and staff focus on six virtues with their students: wisdom, faithfulness, perseverance, integrity, compassion, and curiosity.

Each week, staff pay close attention to their students and their behaviors. They look for one or more of these virtues being exhibited in and out of the classroom, awarding the student who displays them consistently on their own.

One young man recently started a fresh school week with many goals – finishing school work, being more helpful at home, and exhibiting understanding as a big brother. He told his teacher, “I did all I could to achieve my goals, despite my struggles.”

At the end of the week, he was awarded for being willing to do more than what was expected and persevering in spite of his struggles. Please join Back2Back in prayer for young students all over Nigeria – that they understand their value and the importance of being present every day and putting their best foot forward.
