A couple of years ago, the D.R. team met Raquel, a single mother in the Cien Fuegos community, who was carrying more than her share of worry and exhaustion. Her young daughter was fainting without a medical explanation, and even after numerous tests, doctors offered no concrete answers. Nights were sleepless, and an unwavering heaviness permeated their home. Raquel longed for peace and healing for her family, but she didn’t know where to turn.
The team asked if they could pray over her and the home, and as they bowed their heads, the Holy Spirit entered into the space powerfully. Raquel fell to her knees, repenting and recommitting her life to Jesus as the team prayed. The presence of God was palpable, and restoration began to take root in her heart.
Just one week later, when the team returned to visit, they found her front gate and door painted in bright colors, adorned with scripture verses. A lightness radiated from both her and her home. Raquel smiled as she shared the news: her daughter had not experienced any more fainting spells since their last visit, and for the first time, her family was sleeping through the night in peace.
Today, staff continue to disciple Raquel and her family, praying with her, teaching her how to talk with God, and helping her recognize His voice in her daily life.
Without that moment of prayer, Raquel and her family may still be living under fear and unrest. Instead, they are experiencing healing, peace, and the presence of a good Father who restores.
This is the power of prayer and presence.
