One of the Hope Homes in Nigeria is a safe haven for young women in the Hope Education Program. In February of this year, the home opened its doors for another promising young adult with much ahead of her. Dayo* is the daughter of a Reverend who served at a local church in the community and a mother who struggled with health issues. Years ago, Dayo laid her father to rest and attempted to navigate life with her ailing mother by her side when Back2Back intervened, asking her to join their programming. For several years, she lived at home with her mother and attended the Education Center, and just this year, she joined the Hope Program.
Since joining the young ladies at the Hope House, Dayo is receiving guidance, love, and care from caregivers and peers. She is pursuing new educational opportunities and growing skill and passion in photography. She is studying the book of John with her housemates, allowing the Word to facilitate conversations between them and growing in her walk with Christ. These times of devotion and connection have left a lasting impact on Dayo; in June of this year, her relationship with God was solidified as she accepted Jesus into her heart and life.
This life-changing decision is already impacting Dayo’s outlook, attitude, and day-to-day interactions. She lost her mother, her sole living biological family member, and while she is grieving appropriately, she finds true peace and comfort in God and through those around her. She is currently taking part in baptism classes, with the goal of being baptized at the local church this year.
Back2Back staff are thrilled for Dayo – for the ways she’s growing, her flourishing relationship with God, and her desire to grow into the young woman she was destined to be. Please join us in prayer for her continued growth and reliance on the Lord, and that she would continue to count each moment joy.
