Every year, an OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) team visits a Back2Back site and invests in every child and family they meet, sharing their love of movement and competition. Recently, the OCR team was at the Monterrey site, and one of the members has long sponsored a Strong Family and they were able to spend a day together. While he was there, the family was able to share a meal and spend the entire afternoon talking, playing, and learning alongside him.
The team held an obstacle course race, and the entire family participated, with the two boys winning first and third place for their age brackets! As the day came to a close, he wanted to gift his sponsor family with something special – one of his personal medals.
“This medal is reserved for the athletes who display sportsmanship, integrity, and determination,” he explained to the family. The children listened intently, focusing on every word he said. Their sponsor put the medal around the eldest child to share with the family, but all four children immediately ran to their mom, putting it around her neck. They understood the significance of the gift and wanted her to know how thankful they are for her and that they understood just what she’s sacrificed and worked for to make their lives better as a family unit.
Please join Back2Back in prayer that every family, at every site, in the Strong Families Program would come to understand and appreciate the hard work each family member puts in to allow space for healing and transformation.
