Yet I am poor and needy; the Lord thinks upon me. (Psalm 40:17)
These words flashed on the screen at a local church as the pastor concluded with an invitation: “You can be part of answering that call.”
In that moment, a family new in their faith raised their hands. They wanted to become a foster family, and they wanted to begin that very day.
Just months earlier, the father had dreamed of attending church on a specific Sunday. Motivated by that dream, the family visited, and it marked the start of their journey with God. Since then, those who knew them testified that something profound had changed in their lives. Every reference agreed: they would be excellent foster parents.
At the same time, two siblings were waiting for placement. Back2Back hoped to keep them together, but the decision needed to be mutual. The younger brother immediately expressed his desire to be part of a family. His older sister hesitated, but when she learned her brother’s wish, she said yes.
Today, the family who bravely raised their hands on their first Sunday has become the first foster family in their state’s region. God answered the prayers of two siblings in need of love, while also planting the seeds of a movement.
Without this family’s obedience, the siblings might have faced separation or more uncertainty. Instead, they are together, embraced in a safe and loving home.
This is only the beginning. An open door has been unlocked, one that could inspire more families in their community to open hearts and homes to children still waiting for an answer.
Will you join us in praying for this family, for these siblings, and for more open doors, so every child may know they are thought of by the Lord and answered with love?
