So much of the holistic care provided to vulnerable children around the world is possible because of faithful advocates, sponsors, prayer warriors, and dedicated men and women stepping into roles they don’t have to. Caring for Hope Students around the world is a rewarding, demanding role. The dedicated house parents who step into these positions are an essential part of creating supportive, nurturing environments. To honor their commitment and all it entails, a retreat was recently organized for each couple to provide rest, reflection, and reconnection.
Together, the house parents participated in group discussions, team-building activities, and moments of quiet reflection. These sessions focused on strategies for fostering stronger relationships within their homes with each other, their children, and the students as they handle challenges with renewed patience. Each couple was also reminded that their own well-being was taken care of as they provided for the students.
While each day had key professional development aspects, it was also designated time to enjoy the company of other couples, share meals, participate outdoors, and have heartfelt conversations. Their bonds were strengthened as they each remembered they are not ever alone in this mission.
They returned home after two days away refreshed and refocused – the impact of the retreat evident in their faces and actions. Renewed energy, deeper connections, and an invigorated commitment to supporting students made their time away priceless.
