Educational access is a key pillar in Back2Back’s Five Point Child Development Plan. Vulnerable populations often don’t receive equity in their educational careers or lack the resources to continue their schooling, as in most of the countries Back2Back serves, free, public education ends in the 8th grade. For the children Back2Back serves globally, staff work hard to ensure this isn’t their story.
At a partnering children’s home in Mazatlán, Mexico, access to the internet has transformed the way children are learning. “It is an integral tool to reinforce topics the children are receiving in the classroom,” shared staff. Students study and learn at school and then come home to internet access, amplifying the information they’ve received, helping them analyze the lessons, and gaining additional perspective through research and reading.
Staff are seeing a renewed dedication and interest in their studies from the students and feel confident it is because they have so much information at their fingertips. The use of technology and the internet would not be possible without faithful giving from sponsors around the world. Together, children are learning in real time and understanding access to furthering education is their right.
