Four Hope Program students sat atop the high mountain peak and looked at their city below. One of the young men started pointing, calling out landmarks or locations he recognized as the sun shone brightly from a cloudless, blue sky. 

Recently, an OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) team visited Monterrey, Mexico. As a team of athletes, they wanted to share their love of movement with Hope Education Program students and together teens and the team hiked Cerro de la Silla, a prominent landmark in Monterrey.

“Many of the students have never been before,” shared Mackenzie Howard, Back2Back staff. “It was heartwarming to hear them encouraging one another on the steep hike and see their looks of pride as they accomplished the task before them, making it to the top.”

Once everyone got to the top, they took in the open views, enjoyed talking and getting to know the visiting team better, and enjoyed lunch together!

Visiting mission teams are an integral part of the holistic work Back2Back does globally. It allows connection, conversation, and growth for every child and teen who meets visiting guests or reconnects with old friends from previous trips.

Together, staff and visiting teams are helping widen the scope for every child they care for, offering them experiences to aid in learning more about the world around them and of what they are each capable.
