On December 6th, five Strong Families families, along with Back2Back Care Coordinators and a local volunteer couple, came together to celebrate the first Posada. Posadas commemorate the journey Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of refuge where Mary could give birth to Jesus. The volunteer couple has been investing in their lives through marriage activities and hosting a Bible study they now have together. They were encouraged to bring every member of their family and a dish to share with the others.
During their time together, they wrote thank you notes and notes of encouragement to one another and their family’s care coordinators. They played Christmas games, took family photos, and ended their evening with coffee and dessert.
“It was amazing to watch them all interact with each other now that they have connections through the program,” shared Monique Rivera, Back2Back Care Coordinator. The evening went longer than planned, as all of the families wished to stay longer to continue enjoying each other’s company.
Connections and growth like this are only possible through the dedication of staff, prayer, and advocates around the world. Please join Back2Back in prayer these relationships would flourish as each family member recognizes their role in the larger community.
