Meet the Staff: Jason Munafo

B2Bblog_Munafos3Back2Back staff serves the orphan child worldwide in varied positions. Whether serving abroad or in the U.S., each missionary fulfills a unique role in the ministry, leveraging his or her God-given abilities for the Kingdom of God. This month, we chat with the state side director of the Nigeria and Haiti sites, Jason Munafo.

How do you serve with Back2Back?
I am the U.S. director for the Nigeria and Haiti sites. My wife, Emilee, and I served on-site in Nigeria prior to my current role. Currently, Emilee helps with special events, most recently with Back2Back’s Night of Hope banquet in November.

Why did you decide to begin serving with Back2Back?
I have always wanted the work I do to make a difference in the future. There is no better way than to invest in the lives of the world’s future generation. Since the children we serve come from desperate situations, they often quickly grasp the nature of God’s love because He rescued them. They are the future leaders we need, and that is why I am serving with Back2Back.

What part of your job are you most passionate about?  Why?
The part of my job I am most passionate about is working with people. This includes our staff and the children we serve. There is nothing better than being in the trenches with people who have the same calling as you and seeing changed lives as a result of your obedience. Awesome.

What is something God has shown you or taught you over the past year through your experiences with Back2Back?
God has shown me how important it is to stay focused on the calling He has placed on you. At the end of the day, many things don’t work out the way you had hoped no matter how hard you try. This can be very discouraging, and it happens a lot in ministry and in life. This is when doubt and frustration can overwhelm you causing you to want to quit. This is exactly what Satan wants you to do. After going through this many times, I realized the outcome is not what is most important. What is most important is my obedience to what God has asked me to do. The calling. God is responsible for the outcome. That is freeing.

What inspires you?
I am inspired when I read Scripture. There are so many inspiring stories and truths.
