A New Confidence

Josue and his two younger sisters have lived at El Retiro Juvenil for a number of years. Josue is 14 years old and enjoys playing soccer.

When he first came to the home, Josue was shy and reserved. He’d dealt with a lot of trauma from a young age and had a difficult time opening up and trusting people. He lacked self-confidence and struggled with simple things like how to properly care for himself.

Josue has grown a lot over the past few years. He’s beginning to open up, share his story, and is choosing to trust the children and caregivers around him. He’s doing well in school and has greater self-confidence. He enjoys a hot shower and wearing polo shirts.

Investing in a child and teaching basic life skills gives him hope and confidence. Josue is seeing a bright future ahead of him. Because of your involvement in the Back2Back Child Sponsorship Program, you are helping us address the spiritual, physical, educational, emotional and social needs to provide holistic orphan care to children like Josue every day.

Josue has come through a lot but there’s still more work to be done. Please pray for God’s love to continue to penetrate the depths of Josue’s heart to bring healing, restoration and wholeness.
