Hope Program Director

Position Title: Hope Program Director
Location: Hyderabad, India
Status: Full-Time
Reports to: India General Manager
Works closely with: India Child Sponsorship Manager
Position summary: A key role of leadership within our organization, this position oversees the implementation of the Hope (education) Program within the cultural context of India, and according to the options available. Said another way, this person will make sure the Hope Program works to accomplish our goals for children when they leave our care.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop a framework for evaluating the best options for selection of education path and educational institution, housing, and providing continuing support from Back2Back in all 5 key areas: Spiritual, Physical, Educational, Emotional, and Social (SPEES)
  • Be part of a team (and a strong voice) in the recruitment and selection of Hope Program house parents
  • Define, and provide training and ongoing coaching to Hope Program house parents in trauma-informed methods of care and nurturing
  • Weekly visits to meet with house parents and Hope Program students to:
    • evaluate the student’s progress, adjustments, additional needs
    • evaluate the house parents’ performance and any additional support, resources, and training needed
      • including documenting and addressing non-performance or unacceptable work behavior, and 
      • developing recommendations for promotion or dismissal
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and regular evaluations of individual Child Development Plans for each child – including tracking Child Status Index metrics
  • Periodic meetings with the biological families of Hope Program students to discuss student’s progress, and identify areas of family support needed
  • Work with Hope Program House Parents and the child’s family to define life transition goals and monitoring progress toward those goals
  • Track, manage and report progress of execution plan to leadership staff
  • Identify issues, trends, key themes that need to be addressed to ensure best possible outcomes for the students
  • Coordinate activities and initiatives for Hope Program with other Site Captains or Site Support Program Managers to support the 5 key development areas (SPEES)
  • Support Child Sponsorship activities with the goal of encouraging healthy, meaningful relationships among the children and their sponsors
  • Develop annual budget in support of the ministry’s strategic plan for the program
  • Oversee the finances and financial reporting required 
  • Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position

Required education and experience:

  • University Degree 
  • Mature Christian
  • Sufficient life and work experience that supports the position responsibilities

Required skills and abilities:

  • A clear understanding of the Hope Education Program – and the outcomes desired for graduates of the Hope Program
  • Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Back2Back’s mission and vision
  • Adhere to and share the Back2Back Statement of Faith, Cultural Values, and Standards of a Staff Member
  • Very strong cultural awareness, and humility in how the culture is encountered
  • Good people skills
  • Excellent communicator 
  • Strong time management skills
  • Highly organized 
  • Detail-oriented
  • Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office, and Google Applications
  • Capacity and desire for learning local language (Telugu and/or Hindi)
