Employee Relations Director

Lead the development and implementation of long-term staffing strategies in order to build an equipped and unified global team. This includes developing multi-national leaders, reproducing organizational culture, guiding professional development, and ensuring that structures support the success and sustainability of staff so they can focus on fulfilling their calling through the mission and vision of Back2Back.

Position summary: Lead the development and implementation of long-term staffing strategies in order to build an equipped and unified global team. This includes developing multi-national leaders, reproducing organizational culture, guiding professional development, and ensuring that structures support the success and sustainability of staff so they can focus on fulfilling their calling through the mission and vision of Back2Back.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead the selection process to ensure the right people are hired and placed in the right roles. Empower and support the Employee Relations Manager, in-country Human Resource departments, and global Site Directors in the execution of those processes.
  • Develop and implement globally aligned onboarding strategies that utilize Core Training, Back2Back Learn assignments, hybrid learning approaches, local training, and other resources to equip staff for their roles.
  • Protect and reproduce organizational culture. Model and teach Back2Back DNA personally and systematically, maintain Back2Back DNA documents, and ensure all new hires receive updated Back2Back DNA training and reinforcement.
  • Lead professional development and leadership growth strategies across the organization. Empower and support the Back2Back Learn Manager in the development and implementation of multi-lingual, on-demand learning directed at strengthening organizational culture, growing leadership, and training staff in role specific needs. Collaborate with the Back2Back Learn Manager and Site Directors to ensure LEADership development plans are created, resourced, and executed for every site.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of global Employee Relations, Human Resources, and Staff Care strategies. Work to develop and implement strategies that set global standards and adapt to local contexts.
  • Work to establish role clarity, job accountability, future growth plans, and support for every staff member through updated job descriptions and processes that steward human resources with excellence and build toward future growth and succession.
  • Oversee the Ministry Partnership Development (MPD) process to ensure financial sustainability of US based staff. Empower and support MPD coaches as they implement Via Generosity strategies, and collaborate in the exploration and implementation of other sustainable funding strategies and models.
  • Direct all Employee Relations communication strategies. Oversee the use of the Back2Back Portal as an internal communications and resource hub, align global and local calendars, and work with the US Leadership Team to ensure necessary information is shared through the organization in all directions.
  • Assist as needed with organizational special events.
  • Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position.

Required education and experience:

  • 4-year college degree.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience.
  • Short-term international mission experience required, long-term experience strongly preferred.

  • Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Back2Back’s mission and vision.
  • Adhere to and share the Back2Back Statement of Faith, Cultural Values, and Standards of a Staff Member.
  • Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Project management skills, including ability to oversee multiple simultaneous projects and meet deadlines in a complex environment.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex situations and find creative solutions.
  • Flexible and teachable; adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a cross-cultural, multi-lingual, non-profit environment.
