Position summary: The Education Initiatives Coordinator develops and facilitates programs that promote student well-being, social-emotional learning, academic progress, and community engagement in education. The Education Initiative Coordinator will oversee Connection Group implementation in school and after school program settings. The Coordinator will also provide educational support for students identified by school staff as experiencing an educational disparity. The Coordinator will collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community leaders to implement interventions that promote student well being and bridge the education gap to reduce barriers for access to equitable education.
Primary responsibilities:
- Advocate for trauma-informed education practices and equitable access to academic opportunties.
- Provide in-classroom support for school staff including academic work and social emotional learning opportunities for students.
- Provide out-of-class support for students including skills practice and co-regulation efforts with students.
- Provide staff and student support during special events, new experiences, or field trips.
- Develop strategies to mitigate learning loss over academic calendar disruption.
- Including, but not limited to, summer reading programs and providing academic support to partnering summer programs for students from the district.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with various tasks including in and out of classroom academic support for students.
- Strategically assign facilitators to schools and ensure teams have the resources and support needed for effective program delivery.
- Implement and grow Connection Groups within schools and after-school program settings.
- Train and equip education staff and volunteers to lead Connection Groups.
- Monitor school staff facilitator competency, assessing progress toward sustainable, school-led implementation.
- Collect data on program effectiveness, identify areas for growth, and implement best practices for continuous improvement and areas for growth.
- Ensure schools and trainers have the materials, curriculum, and support to successfully execute Connection Groups.
- Assist as needed with organizational special events.
- Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners that fully fund the position.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred
Required skills and abilities:
- Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Back2Back’s mission and vision.

- Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Bilingual English/Spanish desired.
- Passion for student development, education equity, and community engagement.
- Hospitality and rapport building.
- Experience in advocacy, social work, program coordination, education, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices (including trauma informed behavior management) and community-based solutions or a willingness to learn and embrace.
- Small group facilitation with students.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and boundary setting skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or with teams and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and pivot with little notice.
- Valid driver’s license.
