Human Resources Manager

The Human Resource manager will lead and implement HR strategies that align with Back2Back’s mission and values, taking a proactive and visionary approach in creating the structure and policies needed to support ministry health, impact, and growth.

Position summary: The Human Resource manager will lead and implement HR strategies that align with Back2Back’s mission and values, taking a proactive and visionary approach in creating the structure and policies needed to support ministry health, impact, and growth.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain Human Resource policies and procedures that meet local and global standards while protecting organizational culture.
  • Maintain the employee handbook, proposing and implementing updates to policies when needed to support organizational health and growth.
  • Provide leadership to Human Resource managers internationally to establish consistent standards across all countries of operation while allowing for localization to cultural and governmental requirements.
  • Ensure consistent application and compliance with policies internationally, including safeguarding.
  • Oversee benefit plans and administration for US hires, ensuring benefits stay aligned with the needs of both the organization and staff.
  • Ensure each position has a clear written job description tied to the values and desired outcomes of the role. Ensure job descriptions of US hires align with US compensation strategies.
  • Develop and manage clear salary ranges for US hires that include salary increase strategies that allow for both cost of living and merit based adjustments. Build an environment that fosters financial sustainability to ensure long term sustainability for staff.
  • Support and collaborate with the Equipping and Care Team with recruitment and selection strategies and processes to attract and onboard qualified, mission-aligned candidates. This includes participation in panel interviews and other tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the organizational structure and job vacancies and maintain updated job postings, working to ensure the ministry has the right people, at the right time, in the right positions.
  • Support and collaborate with initiatives that increase staff engagement and retention globally.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain documentation strategies that include the employee database, employee files, employee records, and organizational charts.
  • Stay current with US Human Resource law through SHRM or other entities. Anticipate and plan for any changes necessary due to organizational growth or changes in the law.
  • Assist as needed with organizational special events.

    Required education and experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
    • 5 or more years of Human Resources experience.
    • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred.
    • Experience with faith based non-profit organizations is preferred.
    • Cross-cultural experience is a plus.

    Required skills and abilities:

    • Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Back2Back’s mission and vision.

    • Operate with basic competency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
    • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
    • Proven ability to develop systems and frameworks to support organizational growth.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Have aptitude to learn additional software, systems, and processes as needed.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Work independently and efficiently to coordinate and execute systems and processes.
    • Be proactive and demonstrate resilience by adapting to a constantly changing
    • environment.
    • Demonstrate characteristics of a team player, being passionate about the work, humble
    • in approach, and strong in interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrate good judgment and discernment in decision making. Handle conflict in an honorable and truthful manner.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
